  1. Funny, I didn’t have any problem accepting that Logan would be relentlessly attacked by his peers because of what his parents did, and here’s why: Because was are talking about 09’ers — the children of millionaires and billionaires — and in Neptune you are basically judged by the status and/or economic class of your father. Veronica’s situation early in season 1 was based on what her father did [go after a rich man], and the 09’er kids who are at the top of the pyramid aren’t there because of what they themselves have done, but by what their rich parents [mostly, it seems, their fathers] have done and accomplished. The parents are always jockeying for position and power, and the children do the same, in their own way. Most of the rich kids are bascially passive. Veronica even calls Duncan out as passive, and he’s probably from the richest family. The lower-middle class and working-class kids, on the other hand, must work and actively struggle for their spot on the ladder, not so much based on what their parents do, but based on what they themselves do, as is evidenced by Veronica’s relentless sleuthing and subversion, Weevil’s intimidations, Mac’s entrepreneurship, etc. It’s the passive against the active. And in the relentless world of class struggle taking place in Neptune High, if your parents are disgraced, you yourself will be punshed and scapegoated and shunted aside without a second thought…
